Introducing Marketplace product tracking
An online marketplace is an e-commerce site that connects sellers with buyers. It's often known as an electronic marketplace and all transactions are managed by the website owner. Companies use online marketplaces to reach customers who want to purchase their products and services.
Online marketplaces are established virtual shopping outlets that consumers are used to visiting, trusting and purchasing through.
Types of online marketplaces:
Vertical marketplaces that specialize in only one kind of product category, e.g. clothing and accessories. For example, AboutYou for hundreds of well-known fashion brands
- Horizontal marketplaces that offer products of many different types, but all sharing a characteristic, e.g. Dote.com enables women to shop at multiple retailers simultaneously by viewing all products from all retailers at the same time
- Global marketplaces that sell everything, e.g. eBay and Amazon
Marketplaces fall into three main categories when grouped by their target audience.
Types of eCommerce marketplaces:
- Business-to-business (B2B)
- Business-to-consumer (B2C)
- Consumer-to-consumer (C2C)

Novelty in KLIKER
From November 2022, KLIKER market is tracking multimerchant offers on several marketplaces. This means that we collect and analyse data about more than one offering for a specific SKU on one website.
In My market, we do not only show the cheapest product from the marketplace, but all products listed in that marketplace. To compare all market data, it is necessary to follow all product listings, so we can see the whole picture. However, the cheapest product will always be displayed in the My market Search results, but in case that the marketplace has several vendors offering the same product (SKU), a small mark will be displayed next to the cheapest price. See example below.
After clicking on three dots in the right corner of each price field, you will see an option Multiple and by selecting it a modal window will open that shows the total number of vendors of that marketplace that offer the same product and all the data related to that product that they offer. For example: price, availability, model.
To distinguish different vendors for the same product (SKU), partner code and vendor’s name will be displayed.
Why is it important for marketplaces?
Mainly because they can use KLIKER to evaluate their merchants:
Do they have a current and competitive offer?
- Do they have the same/higher/lower price than on their own web shop if they have one?
Marketplace option is another feature of KLIKER market that gives you a better overview of the market, and which allows you to conduct price comparison, competition monitoring and promotion planning as thoroughly as possible.
