In a store you can walk the aisle. Online, the shelf is thousands of pages that change daily, and nobody sends you a planogram. Digital shelf analytics is how that becomes measurable.
Digital shelf analytics is the measurement of how a portfolio is present and represented across online retailer pages — the category listings, search results and product detail pages where customers discover and compare products. It answers four things at once: are we listed, are we buyable, are we priced where we intended, and is the page good enough to convert?
Unlike a periodic audit, it works from a continuously refreshed record, so a listing that quietly disappears surfaces as an event rather than at the next quarterly review.
The metric
Digital Shelf Share is the proportion of the monitored digital shelf that a brand occupies, relative to the total set of comparable products in that category, retailer or market. Where classic market share tells you what sold, Digital Shelf Share tells you what was available to be sold — how much of the visible online shelf was yours in the first place.
In practice, how strongly a brand is represented is assessed across several dimensions rather than compressed into one number:
Which of these apply to your scope depends on the data you license and on what each retail source supports.
The delivery method for your scope is agreed during scoping.

Being listed is not being seenQuestions
The collection of online retailer pages where customers discover, compare and buy products — category listings, search results and product detail pages. It is the online equivalent of physical shelf space, except it changes daily rather than at planogram reset.
The share of the monitored shelf your products occupy against every comparable product in that category, retailer or market. It is the metric this page is built on: market share is the result, Digital Shelf Share is the opportunity that produced it. The formal definition is in the glossary.
Web analytics measures behaviour on sites you own. Digital shelf analytics measures your presence and representation on sites you do not own — retailer pages, where most of the buying decision happens and where you have no direct visibility.
Yes. Which products a retailer lists, when a listing appears and when it disappears are tracked across the monitored market — for your portfolio and for competitors. See assortment & market changes.
Yes — in stock, out of stock and delivery status per retailer, plus replenishment speed after a stock-out, tracked over time.
